Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, celebrated National Ayurveda Day on Tuesday, 26th November 2019 at Dhanwantari Hall RGUHS. Sushrutha Ayurveda medical College, Bangalore was given the responsibility of conducting the program. The representatives from Staff and students of Ayurveda colleges of Bangalore participated in the program.

Dr.S.Sachidananda, VC, RGUHS presided over the inauguration. Dr. RiyazBasha, Deputy Registrar, RGUHS, introduced the guests to the gathering.

A brief introduction about Ayurveda day was given by Dr. ShrinivasBannigol, Chairman,Board of Studies Ayurveda RGUHS. ShriJawaidAkther IAS, Principle Secretary, Dept. of Health and Family Welfare, GOK was the chief guest and Smt. MeenakshiNegi IFS, Commissioner, Dept. of AYUSH was the guest of honour. Finance Officer of RGUHS, Smt. ZohraJabeen delivered the vote of thanks.

Inauguration was followed by guest lectures by Dr. B R Ramakrishna, VP, CCIM, on the Global scenario of Ayurveda, Dr. N Anjaneya Murthy, ex-Joint Director, Dept. of AYUSH on Understanding the basic concepts of Ayurveda, and Dr.Srivatsa, Professor, GAMC Mysore spoke on the topic Longevity – an Ayurvedic Perspective, Research updates in Ayurveda, and Scope of Research in Ayurveda.

Students from Sushrutha Ayurveda Medical College, SDM college of Ayurveda and Athreya College of Ayurveda presented various cultural programs.

Valedictory program was presided over by Dr. Sacchidananda, VC, RGUHS. PadmashriVaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, was the chief guest, Dr. B.R. Ramakrishna VP, CCIM New Delhi, and Dr. M. Prakash Kumar, Joint Director AYUSH, were the Guest of Honour.

On this occasion, achievers in the field Ayurveda – Late Dr. Sheshadri Vasan, ex- Principal, GAMC Bangalore; Dr. Prasanna N Rao, Principal, SDM college of Ayurveda, Hassan; Dr. Suman D.P, Superintendent of Police, Madikeri; Dr. AnandKrishal, Executive Member, CCIM New Delhi; Dr. Ganesh Pai. K, AIAPGET topper 2019 were felicitated.
