Sushrutha Avabodhini 2022: A National Conference on Autoimmune Disorders
Sushrutha Avabodhini 2022 was a two-day national conference organized by Sushrutha Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital, Bengaluru, in association with Vishwa Ayurveda Parishad, Karnataka, held on December 10th and 11th, 2022, at the Prashanti Kuteera, S-VYASA University. The conference focused on autoimmune disorders and was part of the Dwidashamanotsava (Vicennial) celebrations of the medical college.
Inauguration
The inauguration ceremony, held at Samskriti Bhavana, featured several prominent figures, including Dr. H.R. Nagendra (Chancellor, S-VYASA University), Prof. Govind Sahay Shukla (National President, VAP), Dr. B.R. Ramakrishna (President, VAP Karnataka), and Dr. Sanghamitra Patnaik (Principal, SAMC & H). The event included the release of three books and a conference souvenir. The dignitaries also felicitated notable guests, followed by the presidential address by Dr. B.R. Ramakrishna.
Cultural Extravaganza
On the evening of December 10th, a cultural program highlighted various classical and folk dance forms from across India, performed by SAMC & H students. The event featured Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Sattriya, Mohiniyattam, Manipuri, and several folk dances, creating a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere.
Scientific Sessions
The scientific sessions began with a keynote address by Dr. L. Mahadevan on Understanding Autoimmune Disorders in Ayurvedic Perspective. The conference included multiple presentations on autoimmune diseases, including Sjogren’s Syndrome, Rasaushadhis in autoimmune management, and Ayurvedic treatments for autoimmune dermatological disorders. Over 120 PG, Ph.D., and faculty members participated in parallel paper presentation sessions.
Competitions
Several competitions were held, including paper presentations and poster presentations. The best paper in the Ph.D./Faculty category was awarded to Dr. Santosh K, while Dr. Keerthana (PG) won the first prize, and Miss Puliyur Mahalakshmi Kannan won the Best Poster Presentation (UG).
Valedictory Ceremony
The valedictory ceremony, held on December 11th, was graced by Dr. Shivashankar Sai (Registrar, S-VYASA University) as the chief guest. Dr. Sandhya, Head of the Scientific Committee, presented a detailed report on the conference. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vasudeva Vaidya and a divine Shanti mantra.
