Introduction to Department:
- Kayachikitsa is one of the important branches of Ayurveda. This branch deals with various Physical and Psychological disorders.
- This clinical department is imparting Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching and training in theory as well as practical research on various diseases through Ayurvedic principles of treatment in accordance with Syllabus & curriculum prescribed by National Council of Indian System of Medicine. The Department always has aimed and achieved centum results.
- This subject is mainly concerned with revitalizing Indian Traditional Science, methods of treatment of disorders and to develop protocols of research and management of various disorders based on Ayurvedic principles of management.
- The department encompasses a separate departmental library with more than 150 books related to Ayurveda as well as speciality modern text books.

- Upholding the Authentic principles of Ayurveda in order to propagate health for all and to be a centre of excellence by providing quality education and training to both undergraduate and postgraduate students of Ayurvedic medicine.
Vision:
- To improve theoretical and clinical expertise through Audio visual presentations. Involving each and every student in bedside clinical examination to improve their clinical skills. To conduct various speciality wise guest lectures based on Ayurvedic principles and allied Science.

Under Graduate level: During the Academic Year, theoretical as well as practical teaching, training and guidance on treatment in the subject of Kayachikitsa were provided to 4th BAMS students. Students were taught through bedside clinical as well as demonstration methods which enabled the students to study the problems typically associated with particular disease or disorder.
- Each and every student was assigned topics for class seminars to understand the depth of the subject and all over personality development.
- Guest lecture by Dr Santhosh N Belavadi on the topic “Successful Management of Chronic Disorders through Ayurveda- Practical Approach”
Post graduate level:
- During the Academic Year, theoretical as well as practical teaching, training and guidance were provided to MD Scholars on their research topics with reference to special diseases.
- Various weekly activities with regard to seminars, discussion, journal club, thesis topic discussion, case presentations, clinical methods and departmental examination etc were conducted regularly by the department.
- PG Scholars have attended and presented papers in various National Seminars, Workshops and bagged prizes.
Achievements:
- Dr Varshini, 2nd Year PG Scholar has received a PG Star grant of Rs. 1 Lakh from CCRAS for research work.
- Dr Deepu, 2nd Year PG Scholar has secured 2nd Prize in Prayogya Vignana Competition on the occasion of National Ayurveda Day 2024, organised by Govt. Ayurveda Research Centre Mysuru.
