Pathya:
The Therapeutic Diet Section (Pathya Unit) of SAMC Hospital functions in accordance with NCISM guidelines, providing structured and scientifically planned dietary services as an integral component of patient care. The unit supports the principles of Pathya–Apathya as described in Ayurveda, emphasizing diet as a therapeutic tool in disease management and health restoration.
The Pathya Unit caters to inpatients undergoing Panchakarma procedures and other Ayurvedic therapeutic interventions, ensuring diet is appropriately modified based on the disease condition, stage of treatment, Agni (digestive capacity), and Dosha predominance. Disease-specific therapeutic diets are also provided as part of the comprehensive treatment protocol.
All diets are prepared under hygienic conditions, supervised by qualified personnel, and prescribed in coordination with the treating physicians. The unit aims to enhance treatment efficacy, support recovery, and promote holistic well-being, thereby fulfilling the role of dietetics as a mandatory supportive service in an Ayurvedic hospital as per NCISM norms.
